Generic placement of Nematopus punctiger Dallas, 1852 (WRD)

Content:  O’Shea (1980b) indented the names flavicornis Fabricius, 1803 and punctiger Dallas, 1852 under Grammopoecilus angustatus as though they were synonyms of it, apparently in error, as he did not indicate them as new synonymies and gave distribution data for them, which he did not do for synonyms in other genera. He also indented punctiger Dallas, 1852 under Nematopus nervosus Laporte, with which Distant, 1901e placed Nematopus punctiger Dallas, 1852 in synonymy. It is unclear whether O’Shea intended to refer punctiger to Grammopoecilus or to Nematopus.
